For those of you who may not have heard the truly fantastic news, Monico Movies has been granted a Big Lottery Fund award. This amazing funding support will allow Monico Movies to acquire it’s own cinema kit. Up until now we have been renting the equipment from Film Hub Wales, who also deserve a big thank you for the support they have given us over the course of our first year.

Tonight, 12th November, we are showing Bridge Of Spies and for the first time we will be using our very own cinema kit, purchased with the Big Lottery Fund award.

get-santaAdverts on the TV, decorations and seasonal food appearing in the supermarkets means that it’s that time of year again. Monico Movies of course have a real treat in store for the Xmas season. Get Santa (U) (Saturday 10th December) is a British made Christmas comedy, Jim Broadbent is wonderful as Santa Claus who finds himself arrested in London and deemed insane with just days until Christmas Eve.
Nine-year-old Tom (Kit Connor) is excited that his dad Steve (Rafe Spall) has been released from prison just in time for Christmas, after a two-year stretch for assisting in a robbery. And it’s Steve he turns to when he discovers a man claiming to be Santa Claus in the family garage.
It turns out that St. Nicholas, test-driving his new sledge in the run-up to Christmas, has crash-landed in London. Reindeer are running amok. And after Santa is arrested trying to steal his furry pals from an animal shelter, he’s immediately incarcerated in the very prison from which Steve has just been released.
